How to get the best out of your massage session at Healflow.

Many of us have ever wondered what is the best way to enjoy and get the most benefit from a therapeutic massage session, and this is because you want the best experience possible when you show up for your appointment. 
 
Massage therapy performed by Registered Massage Therapists (RMT) & Holistic Practitioners, can be beneficial for anyone, it is one of the most effective ways to promote relaxation, provide relief from muscle and joint pain, and improve blood flow and circulation.  
 
Today we are going to share some tips to help you get the most out of your massage therapy session.
 

Stay Hydrated 

Being well-hydrated before your massage will help eliminate the toxins that are released into the body’s circulation during treatment. After your session, our practitioners will provide you with Kangen alkaline water to rehydrate your body.

Eat Lightly

It’s preferable to eat at least one hour in advance of your massage or if you’re afraid you’ll get hungry, eat a fruit or other food that’s easy to digest. Here at Healflow we also provide healthy granola bars that you can also enjoy after your session.

Take a Hot Shower

There’s nothing better than feeling clean before treating yourself to a massage. After your session, we highly recommend taking a warm shower to continue to relax your muscles and also to remove any excess of product on your skin.

Dress Comfortably

Wearing comfortable clothes will not only put you in a relaxed state before your massage but will also keep you relaxed afterward. Shoes are no exception to this rule.  Avoid high heels as they may cause your leg muscles to contract unnecessarily.

Arrive in Advance

Arriving 5 minutes before your massage will allow you to decompress before your session, also drink some water and use the restroom so you are fully ready to start your session.

Use the Infrared Sauna: This therapy can help you relax before the treatment so you will be able to feel completely at ease and release any lingering muscle tension.

Communicate your Needs

Once you are settled in for your treatment, your therapist will review your health questionnaire with you and will ask you follow-up questions. This is the right moment to tell your practitioner what your concerns are, areas of expectations, the amount of pressure you would like, and any areas that you need extra attention or extra care. The more you communicate your needs the better your practitioner will be able to respond to them.

Decompress during the massage

During your treatment focus on your breathing, and your body is being healed. Taking a long deep breath will reduce any stress and tension in your body.
